Jonathan Schipper Invisible sphere

Very impressive video sphere! from Jonathan Schipper here's what he says on his website.
"The sphere contains 215 monitors and 215 cameras. Each camera is opposite to the monitor it feeds. The sphere constantly recreates its surroundings on its monitors from every conceivable angle at all times. The sphere is reflection of media’s attempt to remain revealing as it grows in power and becomes increasingly omni present."

Video Delay Lines

most video delay lines are just passive filters that provide very short (usually nano seconds) delay times to correct signals between sources over long cables runs and other related problems. However there are other ways to achieve real video delays for video installations and the like. I have a Korg Entrancer which does 6 seconds of delay, some DVD recorders have functions that allow them to output a delayed signal and there are commercially available studio units used for broadcast delays on live TV. There is also this, while still expensive its small form factor could be an advantage for cramped installations or live stuff.

Snow by Paul Murnaghan

heres an nice approach to back projection by Paul Murnaghan using TV  'Snow' to great affect. In this installation from 2003 he has set up an immersive interactive environment where the viewer effects the video and audio static created by a broken television (by their bodies interfering with its reception)

Now the second version (and a major leap forward) is the possibility of programing your own graphics and controlling it via midi! the project is known as the ANSI MIDIo and can be seen in action here
